Dr Katrina McMullen (DClinPsy, Phd, MRes, BSc)
ChiPP Clinical Psychologist
Adult and Child and Mental Health, Autism Spectrum Condition and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Hello, my name is Katrina and I am a Clinical Psychologist based in East Dulwich. I completed my clinical psychology doctoral training at Kings College London, and have worked across a wide range of settings including adult mental health, child and adolescent mental health (CAMHS), older adults, acute inpatient services, child neuropsychology and paediatric health psychology. I currently work in CAMHS for South London and Maudsley NHS Trust. I am based in East Dulwich, South East London.
Although I am trained in a range of therapies, I primarily use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Narrative Therapy depending on the difficulties you or your child are experiencing. I have experience working with a wide range of difficulties including low self-esteem, anxiety, school refusal (children), emotional regulation, self-harm, and low mood in children and adults.
One of my main areas of expertise and interest is in working with children and adults with neurodevelopmental disorders including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). I can provide therapy that is tailored to you or your child, adapted for ASC and ADHD (and other learning or social communication difficulties), help with understanding you or your child’s diagnosis and recommendations for support at school and work.
I am a compassionate and creative therapist whose goal is to provide a confidential and non-judgemental space for you or your child to share your difficulties and to work together to reach your therapeutic goals.
I am fully registered with the Health Care Professional Council (HCPC) as a registered Clinical Psychologist: PLY039423
Research
Prior to my clinical psychology doctorate I completed a PhD in Neuroscience at Kings College London, investigating the impact of sub-clinical experiences of psychosis on learning and memory. I completed post-doctoral research in early intervention for psychosis and the impact of multiple sclerosis on mood and cognition. My current research is on the development, maintenance and treatment of self-esteem in young people and the impact of stigma experiences and bullying on self-esteem.
