Dr Elizabeth Hogg (DClinPsy, MSc, BSc)
Clinical Psychologist
Adult and Child and Mental Health, Anxiety Disorders and OCD

Hello, my name is Liz and I am a Clinical Psychologist with over six years’ experience working therapeutically within the NHS. My warm, empathetic, open and non-judgmental style helps children, young people, and adults I support feel safe, understood and comfortable exploring their thoughts and feelings, with a view to achieving their personal goals and making meaningful change. I strive to establish a therapeutic relationship which helps the individual I am working with feel respected and validated.
As people, our views and understanding of ourselves and the world around us are shaped by our individual lived experiences. We develop patterns of thinking and behaving which can sometimes lead to difficult feelings, such as confusion and fear. I compassionately work with people to develop a shared understanding of their experiences, and I support individuals to build upon and integrate their existing strength and resilience with new and effective coping skills, to achieve their goals and promote lasting change.
I am trained in a range of therapeutic modalities and primarily use Cognitive Behavioural (CBT), Systemic, and Narrative techniques. I believe in a person-centred approach, in which I creatively tailor evidence-based techniques to meet the unique needs of each person on their therapy journey.
I have been privileged to support people from diverse backgrounds and across all age-groups in a range of community and specialist mental health settings. I have experience supporting people with a variety of psychological difficulties, including:

Background
I completed my BSc in Psychology at Durham University, my MSc in Clinical and Health Psychology at Newcastle University, and my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN), King’s College London (KCL). In my current role at University College London (UCL) I provide psychological therapy in a specialist NHS talking therapies service, conduct clinically focused research, and I am a tutor supporting the personal and professional development of Trainee Clinical Psychologists on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme.
I am fully registered with the Health Care Professional Council as a registered Clinical Psychologist: PYL043161.
Research
I am passionate about improving the detection, early intervention, and treatment of BDD in young people and young adults, and this is a key focus of my ongoing research. I conduct novel research to inform understanding of current treatment practices and underlying mechanisms maintaining symptoms, whilst promoting awareness and knowledge of BDD amongst mental health professionals. I value that my active involvement in clinically focused research in a world-renowned university strengthens my ability to deliver effective therapy and remain up-to-date with developments in psychological therapies, particularly CBT.
